Hiromi Akiyama

b. 29 April 1937 in Hiroshima (J), d. 14 February 2012 in Rheinzabern (D);  Japanese sculptor

1959-1963Studied at Musashino Art University in Tokyo. Subsequently, at the age of 29, he went to Paris, then the centre of modern sculpture as exemplified by the likes of Alexander Archipenko, Hans Arp and Constantin Brâncuși.
1966-1968Studied at the École nationale des Beaux-Arts
1967Participation in the sculpture symposium in St. Margarethen in Burgenland
1978Teaching post at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe
1981Professor of sculpture
1983Defet Prize of the Deutscher Künstlerbund
1980sParticipation in numerous per cent for art competitions

Further sculpture symposia in Nuremberg, St. Wendel, Rome, Vienna, Bad Kreuznach, Vancouver, Lindabrunn, Hachioji and Suwa in Japan.
