Peter Meister

b. 13 August 1934 in Zollbrück (CH), d. 9 March 1999 in Zürich (CH); Swiss sculptor

He lived in Zürich, but spent long periods in Vienna, Hamburg and Paris.

1950-1954Apprenticeship as a sculptor under the Zürich restorer Willi Stadler, while simultaneously taking courses at the Zürich arts and crafts school. Other stages in his training were the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris and the Berlin University of the Arts.
1959  Founder member of the Symposium of European Sculptors in St. Margarethen, Burgenland, Austria
1965–1985Visits to Pietrasanta, Tuscany
1973-1975 Teaching posts, including at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Milan
1980-1982 Teaching post at the Zürich School of Arts and Crafts
1963   Conrad Ferdinand Meyer Foundation Prize
