Although he travelled often and widely – to Copenhagen (1953), Rome, Florence, Milan, Venice (1954/55), Vienna (1959), Yugoslavia (1960), Mexico (1972, 1974), France (1998), Portugal – he always maintained close ties with the town and canton of Zürich.
